Mops and steam mops
Two different tools share this page. A spin or flat mop with a wringing bucket is the everyday one: cheap to run and easy to store. A steam mop heats water in an onboard tank and drives it through a microfibre pad, lifting grease and grout dirt with heat instead of cleaner.
Tile takes steam well, which is why the electric ones make sense in most homes here. Sealed wood and cushioned vinyl do not, because the heat works into the seams. If you go electric, look at cord length against the room and check that the pad comes off for a machine wash.
- Spin and flat mops with wringing buckets
- Steam mops with refillable tanks and washable pads
- Steam suits tile and grout, not sealed wood
- Match cord length to the size of the room
