Philips steam irons at Night Owl
The Philips irons here sit across two series and an entry model. The 1000 Series DST1020/30 and DST1040 are the everyday irons; the 3000 Series DST3010 sits above them on steam; and the DST0810/30 is the simplest of the four, for a small pile rather than a full basket.
How to choose
Steam does the work and the soleplate only carries it, so the question is how much steam you need. Cotton, linen and a stack of school uniforms go faster with the 3000 Series behind them, while shirts and light cotton are handled comfortably by a 1000 Series iron. Whichever comes home, empty the tank when you finish — standing water is how scale forms, and scale is what marks a shirt months later.
- 1000 Series DST1020/30 and DST1040
- 3000 Series DST3010 for heavier ironing days
- DST0810/30 for a light load
- Vertical steam refreshes a jacket while it hangs
- Start cool on synthetics and work up towards cotton
