Philips vacuum cleaners at Night Owl

Both Philips vacuums here are bagless cylinders: the 1800W XB2023/01 and the 1200W XB1042/10. Bagless means the dust drops into a bin you tip over the rubbish, so there is no bag to replace and nothing to run out of at an awkward moment.

Treat the motor rating as a rough guide rather than a promise about suction. A blocked filter will slow an 1800W machine down more than the gap between the two ratings ever does, and sand is what blocks filters in a flat near the water — it is heavy, it settles deep in a mat, and it grinds away at the filter mesh. Rinse the filter and let it dry all the way through before it goes back in.

  • 1800W XB2023/01 — the stronger of the two
  • 1200W XB1042/10 — lighter to carry up stairs
  • Bagless bin, tipped straight into the rubbish
  • Empty before the bin reaches the fill line, not after
  • Dry the filter fully; a damp filter smells and chokes airflow
