Toasters at Night Owl
Pop-up toasters from Philips and Blue Sky. The Philips line runs to three models, the HD2582/90, the HD2582/00 and the HD2583/90, and the Blue Sky NBT4S takes four slices at once for a table that eats together.
How to choose
Slot count is the household question; slot width is the bread question. Two slots keep up with one or two people, while four hold the pace of a family breakfast without a second round. If you buy thick sliced loaves or split buns, measure the slot opening rather than reading the wattage, and look for a reheat setting so a slice that has gone cold does not get browned twice.
- Philips HD2582/90, HD2582/00 and HD2583/90 pop-up toasters
- Blue Sky NBT4S, four slices in one go
- A browning dial you can set once and repeat every morning
- A crumb tray that pulls right out, because it will need emptying
