The DSP 90114 is a straightforward cordless clipper for cutting hair at home, and it gets the fundamentals right rather than chasing features.

The one that matters most is the IPX6 rating. Rated against water jets, the head rinses clean under the tap — which is the fast, hygienic way to clear cut hair out of a blade, and something a lot of budget clippers cannot survive. Alongside it, the box includes both a cleaning brush and a bottle of blade oil: the two consumables that actually determine whether a clipper still cuts properly in two years or drags and pulls.

A full charge gives 40 minutes of cutting from the 600 mAh cell, which covers several haircuts. Two guide combs set repeatable lengths, and a styling comb is included for sectioning as you work. The mains adapter comes in the box, so there is nothing further to buy.

Be realistic about the battery, though. This is a nickel-cadmium cell rather than lithium, and a full charge takes 8 hours. Plug it in the night before you plan to use it. In exchange you get a simple, repairable-feeling clipper with no electronics to fail.
