DSP Hair Clipper - DSP90480

The DSP DSP90480 is a compact cordless clipper that covers both beard work and haircuts, and its strongest feature is the length range. Two adjustable combs — one spanning 1 to 10 mm, the other 11 to 20 mm — give 20 settings in 0.5 mm steps. That is unusually fine control at this price, and it means you can settle on a length that suits you and repeat it exactly rather than guessing.

Behind the combs is a 5 W motor turning stainless steel blades at 2,700 to 3,300 RPM. That blade speed is what lets it cut cleanly through thicker hair instead of catching and pulling, which is the usual failing of budget clippers.

It charges over Type-C, which is worth more than it sounds — it is the same cable as most phones, so there is no proprietary lead to lose. A full charge takes 1.5 to 2 hours and returns more than 45 minutes of cordless running, enough for several haircuts before it goes back on charge.

One limitation deserves to be stated plainly: this clipper is not waterproof. Do not rinse it, and do not use it in the shower or on wet hair. Clean it with the cleaning brush that comes in the box, which is what the brush is there for.

The set arrives complete — the clipper, both adjustable combs, the cleaning brush, a Type-C cable and the instruction manual — so there is nothing else to buy before you start.
