How to choose
Size the unit to the room rather than to the badge. A 9000BTU head covers a small bedroom; 12000BTU is the usual pick for a bedroom on a sun-facing wall or a compact sitting room; 18000BTU and above is for open living areas, shops and offices. An inverter compressor throttles down instead of switching on and off, which is what keeps the noise and the power draw steady in a Malé flat that cools all night.
