The Orient Rapid Air Sweep in the 1200 mm size is a plain, hard-working ceiling fan. There is no light kit, no remote and no decorative trim — the whole budget went into the motor and the blade profile, which is exactly the right trade for a Maldives home where the fan runs most of the day and most of the night.

What you feel is the 380 RPM. It is a genuinely fast fan, and at 210 CMM it moves air across a room rather than just churning it directly below. In a bedroom of ordinary size you can usually sit two speeds down from maximum and still feel a steady draught at the far corner, which is the practical test of whether a fan is properly sized for the room.

Inside, the motor is wound with 100% copper and runs on double ball bearings at both ends of the shaft. That combination is the reason a fan is still quiet in its third year. Aluminium-wound motors and bushed bearings are cheaper to build and they announce themselves eventually, first as a hum and then as a wobble. This one is built the other way round.

Installation is conventional. The pack includes the motor unit, three blades, the downrod, the canopy set and the blade screws, so it goes onto an existing ceiling hook without extra parts. Choose this 1200 mm version for bedrooms, study rooms, small living rooms and offices; if the room is a hall or an open-plan living and dining space, step up to the 1400 mm Rapid Air Sweep instead.
