Two makes, Usha and Orient, in the two sweeps that fit most rooms: 1200MM and 1400MM. The Usha Apollo LX and Apollo EX and the Orient Rapid Air Sweep are all high-speed blade fans wired for a 220-240V supply and built to run for hours at a stretch.

How to choose

Match the sweep to the width of the room. A 1200MM fan is right over a bedroom or a small office; 1400MM pushes air across a sitting room or a shop floor. Ceiling height decides the rest, because a fan needs clear air below the blades to move anything: a low slab may want a shorter downrod, and a fan mounted tight against the ceiling mostly stirs the warm layer sitting up there.
