Smart Fingers

Smart Fingers

Smart Fingers is a small kitchen-appliance badge, and the pieces Night Owl has listed under it lean towards grinding and food preparation: compact machines bought for one job, in flats where a full-size grinder has nowhere to sit and nowhere to be stored.

Compact does not mean feeble, but it does mean respecting the duty cycle. Small grinders run in short bursts, and the manual usually gives a working time and a rest time; ignoring it is how a motor gets cooked. Jars are the other thing to weigh, since a cracked one on an unfamiliar badge is hard to replace.

• Compact grinding and food-preparation machines
• Short bursts with a rest between batches
• Spare jars and lids are the hard part to source
• Ask on 939-4720 before you rely on a spare
