Pressure cookers at Night Owl
Mostly Prestige, in the sizes a household actually uses: 1.5L and 2L for one or two people, 3L for daily dal and rice, 4L and 5L when you cook for a family or for guests. The aluminium SVACHH cookers carry a lid that sends starchy froth back into the pot instead of over the hob, while the triply models put a stainless sandwich base under a stainless body. Geepas adds a plain 3L aluminium cooker, the GPC325.
How to choose
Two decisions, in order. Size first, remembering a cooker is only filled to about two thirds, so a 3L holds less than the number suggests. Then the lid: outer-lid cookers open wide and are easier to fill, empty and scrub, while inner-lid models seal from underneath and stack away smaller.
Bodies at 1.5L, 2L, 3L, 3.5L, 4L and 5L
Aluminium for light weight and quick heat-up
Triply stainless for induction hobs and for tomato or tamarind cooking
Handi-shaped cookers for biryani and thick gravies
