Body Scales

Body Scales at Night Owl

Digital bathroom scales: a glass or plastic platform over four load cells, a lit readout, and on some models a pair of electrodes that pass a small current through the feet to estimate body fat.

None of them can be ordered from this page today. Two things decide whether a scale earns its corner: where it stands, since a hard level floor gives repeatable numbers and a bathroom mat does not, and whether the body-composition figures will get used at all. They drift with hydration and read as trends, not measurements.

• Glass platforms wipe clean; plastic ones survive being dropped
• Step-on activation saves waking the scale each time
• Weigh at the same hour of day or the readings look like noise
• Keep a spare battery; a flat cell reads as a dead scale
