How to choose

Look at the base and the neck before you count speed settings. A wide, weighted base keeps a tall fan upright on smooth tile, and a head that tilts down matters more than an extra speed step if you sleep under it. A grille that unclips is worth having, because salt air and dust settle on the blades within a season.
