The core of this page is electrical flex sold by the foot: Polycab 3 core 2.5 sq mm flexible copper in black, cut from the roll to the length you order rather than boxed as a fixed reel. It is the cable behind appliance leads, extension boards and short fixed runs from a switch to a machine.

Measure the whole run before you order, then add slack for the bend at each end and for the tail inside the plug. Three core gives you live, neutral and earth, which is what any metal-bodied appliance needs; two core is for double-insulated lamps and small fittings. Conductor size follows the load, and 2.5 sq mm is the usual choice for a socket circuit or a heavy appliance lead.
