Sanford 2 Burner Infrared Tabletop Gas Stove - SF5351IGC

The Sanford SF5351IGC is a two-burner tabletop gas stove with infrared burners under an 8 mm tempered glass top. The main photo shows it in blue glass on a dark body with the knobs on the front; the listing also pictures a black-glass version.

Infrared here does not mean electric. It still burns LPG from a cylinder, like any gas stove. The difference is in the burner: instead of a ring of blue flames, the gas burns across the face of a perforated plate, which glows red-hot and passes its heat up into the base of the pan. The heat comes off the whole face of the plate rather than from a ring of flame tips.

Each plate sits in a round stainless steel tray, with the pan supports on a 75 mm support beam above it. The plates stay hot for a while after the knob is turned off, so let them cool before wiping around them. Sanford does not list a flame-failure device for this model, so if a flame goes out, turn that knob off straight away.

The stove runs on LPG at 2800 Pa (28 mbar), the pressure a household 30 mbar low-pressure regulator supplies, such as the Longtime C80 that Night Owl sells. Auto ignition lights each burner from its own knob, and it stands on the counter, so there is no worktop to cut.
