Description
The Philips BG3007/01 is the Bodygroom Series 3000, and unlike a beard trimmer pressed into body duty, it was designed from the start for the areas where a mistake actually hurts — groin, underarms, chest and legs.
Three things make that possible. The shaver head uses patented rounded tips behind a hypo-allergenic foil, so the cutting edge never presents a sharp corner to skin. A dedicated skin protection system sits between blade and body for sensitive areas. And the head follows your contours rather than staying rigid, which is what stops it skipping over curves.
The trimmer is bidirectional, which is more useful on a body groomer than anywhere else. Body hair does not grow in one tidy direction the way beard hair mostly does, so a trimmer that only cuts on the forward stroke leaves half the job behind. This one cuts whichever way you move it. Two pre-trimmers sit ahead of the foil to shorten longer hair before it reaches the shaving element, which is what stops the head clogging.
Click on the 3 mm body comb when you want a tidy trimmed length rather than bare skin, or take it off to shave close. There is one fixed comb length, so this is a groomer for two clear outcomes rather than a graduated set of lengths.
It is 100% showerproof, so you can use it wet or dry and rinse the whole unit clean under the tap. Philips' own advice is worth following: for the closest result, use it on dry hair before you shower rather than during. A full charge takes 8 hours and gives 40 minutes of cordless running, and the blades never need oiling.
